A View From the Field

Here are some flowers I found north of the house this afternoon. This is a coneflower, otherwise known as a black-eyed Susan.
   
This has to be a Deptford pink, although I didn't know it grew like this and I didn't know it was in any of the mixtures I planted. It is a very small flower (about ½ inch across).
   
And a spider I found on the deck railing in front of my bedroom. It was still alive, but frankly, it doesn't look very healthy. This kind of spider is very common around here.
