October
11 was a beautiful day, so I decided to do some gentle exploring. I
started at Lake Manganese. The color was good, but it was rather hazy. |

Another
direction over the hills around Lake Manganese |

A swamp
and pond alongside the road to the Estivant Pines and the Clark Mine. |

 |
This is
the base of the old smokestack at the Clark Mine site. I couldn't get a
good shot of the whole thing. |

This is
the first and only pearly everlasting I've seen since I've lived in
Keweenaw. It has been picked to death by everybody, including me. |
|
|
 |
My next
stop was the public access parking lot at Lake Medora. The lake was
nearly calm. |
|
|
 |
On the
way home, I stopped at the "Burma Road" (why it's called that,
I do not know). This is some of the best color I saw. |

This is
the shot that brought to mind Bilbo Baggins' song "The road goes
ever onward..." |
