A View From the Field

October 11 was a beautiful day, so I decided to do some gentle exploring. I started at Lake Manganese. The color was good, but it was rather hazy.
Another direction over the hills around Lake Manganese
A swamp and pond alongside the road to the Estivant Pines and the Clark Mine.
This is the base of the old smokestack at the Clark Mine site. I couldn't get a good shot of the whole thing.
This is the first and only pearly everlasting I've seen since I've lived in Keweenaw. It has been picked to death by everybody, including me.
My next stop was the public access parking lot at Lake Medora. The lake was nearly calm.
On the way home, I stopped at the "Burma Road" (why it's called that, I do not know). This is some of the best color I saw.
This is the shot that brought to mind Bilbo Baggins' song "The road goes ever onward..."
