Mission Statement

My name is Sharon Smith, and I am a retired software support technician.  I had several reasons for creating this website, one of which is to prove that I haven't lost my skills.  That, however, isn't the main reason. The others are:

- To create a place to display the best of  30 years (and counting) of photographs, most of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and of Keweenaw in particular, including its flora and fauna.

- To create a journal to keep in touch with my friends.  For the winter of 2000 - 2001 this page will be of interest only to those who want to follow my progress through the treatment for my cancer.  After that passes, I will be moving into the house in Copper Harbor and, I hope, begin to explore Keweenaw and the rest of the Upper Peninsula in detail.  I hope that the journal will include entries about  settling in my house,  the building of my garden, travels around the area, and probably personal opinions.

- To run an almost-live camera in the front windows of my home in Copper Harbor (looking at the scene which is the background for my home page), so that I can see what's going on when I'm not there.  The camera was installed in October of 2001, but it is still a work in progress.

I hope that the gallery  and the live cam will interest people.  As all photographers, I have my own personal view and some pictures of which I am quite proud.  I hope others will enjoy them as I do.

In the spring of 2009, I began selling some of my jewelry on etsy, at

http://RainbowsEndNeedlewks.etsy.com

I hope you will visit my shop and maybe even purchase some of my jewelry and (eventually) other things.
